Hello ladies! Well it has been just over a week since we returned from our mission trip to Honduras, and I am still having a difficult time adjusting back to my “everyday” routine.
The impact that Honduras has made in my life is nothing but positive. I am still not able to put my experience into words. I am struggling with responses to those very difficult questions like, ‘So tell me about the trip… Did you have fun? Do you feel different? Will this change your life?’ My favorite question is, ‘How did you do that (in reference to some very difficult situations we encountered)?’ My response is, and will always be, How could I not…. God put me and each one of you on this team for a reason. I believe that He prepared each of our hearts to endure the tragic, horrifying, as well as beautiful, special and emotional things we saw.
I knew coming home that I would struggle with what to do next? Wondering where God’s will is going to take me. What I didn’t plan on struggling with is where do I fit in? That is where I am struggling personally right now. My family doesn’t really comprehend… though they are trying. My friends don’t get it at all… But in the same sense I don’t need them to understand. I know that you all empathize, and I am extremely grateful that I will always and forever have that bond with you!
I want to thank each of you for sharing in this experience of a lifetime with me. Thank you for being with me at my baptism. Thank you for letting me cry and crying with me. Thank you for letting me laugh and smile and laughing and smiling with me. We had some unforgettable moments that I will cherish forever.
Holly- Thank you for the love you have for the girls and babies at the refuge. Without your passion, we would not have had the experiences we had. Thank you for believing in me.
Robin- Thank you for your crazy spreadsheet skills! Really, thank you for our conversations in the very back seat of Tony’s car (because we were the only ones who didn’t get sick riding back there).
Cindy- Thank you for always being willing to listen. And most of all, thanks for not letting me bolt off the plane when I was having a panic attack… I am glad I was a ‘C’ so I could sit next to you.
Julie- Thank you for being strong enough to be the resident ear piercer… we could not have done it without you!
ML- Thank you for being my buddy… and letting me wander when I needed to wander. More sincerely, thank you for sharing your spiritual journey with all of us. That was awesome!
Kate- Thank you for giving Alexandra the dream to be a ballerina!!
Melissa R.- Thank you for letting me tease you… constantly…. and not taking me too seriously.
Melissa G.- Thank you for letting me share my personal story with you, and thank you for sharing yours with me. I know God puts specific people in my life for a reason.
Alicia- Thank you for listening and not judging. You are an awesome example of what a Christian should be.
Arlene- You are one of the most spiritual people I know. Thank you for showing me what it is like to life and breathe as a Christian each moment of the day.
Pat- Thank you for being my roommate. With your snoring, nobody could hear my sleep talking. Seriously, thank you for your wealth of knowledge… everybody can learn something from you.
Jody- Thank you for your hard work and endurance. When we were all ready to quit, you had other ideas! I really appreciate your leadership and direction.
Jeneviere- Thank you for your smile. You have a way of warming hearts around you with your contagious smile. You make it comfortable to be so far from home.
Jessica- Thank you for sharing some of your very difficult personal stories with me. You give me hope!
Shannon- Thank you for being silly with me. It is always nice to let the inner child out.
Ricci- Where do I begin…? Thank you for being my angel. I don’t think anymore needs to be said.
2 Corinthians 4:5
For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.
Love in Christ Always,
Christi
