Many people on the team made comments to me that implied how easy mission trips must be for the amount of times I’ve gone. Experience does have its perks. However, I don’t think I’d go so far as to call this easy... ever.
Isaiah 42: 1, 3-4
Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.
A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;
He will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth.
In his law the islands will put their hope.
I’ve heard many stories and met several children in heart breaking situations. With each experience, my heart aches. And I don’t think this is too unlike “what Jesus would do”. I believe that every child who becomes abandoned has a place inside His heart. I believe that every injustice done to a woman against her will is noticed. I believe that personal and difficult times are always acknowledged by the eyes of God. I don’t think Jesus ever gets used to pain and suffering in this world and I don’t think He will ever take it lightly. I do not expect that of myself either. I don’t believe it is my role or call to bring justice to these heart breaking situations, but I can mourn, comfort, and be present for those in the midst of them. For it is with Him we have hope.
